ITVAB 009: Hallowe'en

ITVAB 009: Hallowe'en, what is the history? What is the Spiritual implication and impact of Hallowe'en on a Christian? How should we as Christians respond and engage in the festivities of Hallowe'en?

Welcome to Episode 009 of the podcast. Listen here or on one of your favorite Podcast apps below. Just Search for In the Valley and Beyond!
Hallowe'en is a seemingly fun exciting and spooky night practiced around the world. Especially in the American culture, a year cannot be complete without a night of Hallowe'en. So, what is the true history behind Hallowe'en? How does Hallowe'en affect the life and values of the Christian, what should the Christian response be to Hallowe'en? Pastors Mike and Matthew explore these questions in this engaging conversation leading up to October 31 and the celebrations of Hallowe'en.
Did you know that October 31 is a huge event in the occult calendar, even today?  Many witches and satanic cults today still hold coven meetings on the night and practice Samhain (pronounced Sow-In) on the night to commune with the dead and hold rituals.

In the Podcast, Pastor Mike is quoted saying:
"In Philippians 4:8, we're instructed to think about 'whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable.' Hallowe’en, with its focus on darkness and fear, often falls short of these standards. As fun as the celebration seems to be, what spiritual doors are we opening our kids up to when we allow them to dabble in anything that contradicts any of these values?"

The Podcast covers the history and practices of Hallowe'en, as well as the response that we as Christians should be taking.

Some things that every Christian should consider doing on the night:
  1. Praying together over family and those walking the streets
  2. Being a light to those we encounter on the evening
  3. Participate in other events counter to those of Hallowe'en (trunk or treat, family retreat, prayer events, hallelujah carnivals etc.)
  4. Be generous and speak blessing over those that stop past on the evening
  5. Hand out tracts if you feel led to do so.

I would like to know if you guys will be doing this for especially easter and christmas, I find it very relevant to God's refining of his people.

I also want to state that I really appreciate you guys doing this. Although personally I think trunk or treats and dressing up no matter what is helping demons on this particular holiday.

I was never into Pokémon but I know many who were and are did you know the origin of that is witchcraft.

Personally I have been praying hard and reading my Bible inside and out to find out what true holidays or celebrations came from the Word of God. I found it last week finally as when I asked anyone seemingly closer to God they didn't have the answers. There are 3 holy celebrations. I want to encorporate those into my life and my families especially easter.. I've explained to my children the false goddess that came from growing up I was told celebrate the holidays and just explain to the children it's about Jesus. Now as an adult that is in the Word I clearly see none of these are about Jesus. In fact I should have been taught to celebrate the passover week from the start of my life.

Back to halloween you are correct why risk bringing those evils on your children and family. This goes into movies TV shows and music that we listen to it impacts our whole beings also.

These are very important concepts.
